Child and Adolescent Psychology

Dr. Dorfman's extensive training in child psychology began during his undergraduate studies at the Pennsylvania State University. There, he majored in Individual & Family Studies with specialty areas in Child Development and Early Childhood Education. His research focused on discriminatory motivational components of common childhood behaviors. During his master's program at the University of Connecticut's Department of Human Development and Family Relations, Dr. Dorfman interned doing therapy with troubled children and adolescents at a local child services agency. Upon completion of his Master's degree he worked for the next 9 years as the primary child and adolescent therapist at a municipal youth services center. There, he worked with hundreds of children and their families addressing problems ranging from school related issues to disobedient and defiant behavior. As a licensed private practice psychologist for the last 25 years in Bucks County, Dr. Dorfman has continued his work in treating the many challenging issues faced by our children today. His treatment of children and adolescents stresses building a strong doctor-patient relationship, and focuses on increasing self-confidence, self-esteem, and making good choices in life.
