Meet Dr. Fred L. Dorfman
Fred L. Dorfman, PhD is a Licensed Psychologist who has had a private psychology practice in Southampton, PA for over 30 years, serving Bucks County, Philadelphia, Montgomery County, and parts of New Jersey. He serves a wide variety of patient populations with specialty areas including the treatment of child and adolescent problems, marital therapy, and individual adult therapy for anxiety and depression. During therapy, Dr. Dorfman focuses on the specific needs of each person, couple, or family while providing a warm and friendly atmosphere to make patients feel most comfortable. Dr. Dorfman received his Bachelors degree from the Pennsylvania State University in 1972. There, he majored in Individual and Family Studies with specialty areas in Child Development and Early Childhood Education. He went on to complete his Masters degree from the University of Connecticut's Department of Human Development and Family Relations, majoring in Marriage and Family Therapy, and became one of Connecticut's first certified Marriage and Family Therapists. After attaining his Masters degree he gained additional expertise and training while completing a 3 year clinical internship in Family Psychotherapy from Bristol Hospital's nationally renowned Department of Psychiatry. During this time Dr. Dorfman also worked as a child and adolescent therapist. Dr. Dorfman then moved back to his roots in Philadelphia and went on to Temple University's Department of Counseling Psychology where he completed his doctorate in 1993 with areas of interest in the diagnosis and treatment of common emotional disorders including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and adjustment disorders associated with stage of life issues such as going to school, getting married, having a child, getting divorced, loss of a loved one, empty nest, retirement, etc.
